Robert Adam's
Vision of Edinburgh.
Currently this catalogue includes some 450 images, animation
sequences and photographs, all captioned and with copious notes and
carefully researched essays, examining Adam's supurb unbuilt and
destroyed designs for Edinburgh.
Alexander
"Greek" Thomson
- Queens
Park UP Church interior.
This project was commissioned for the opening exhibition at the
Lighthouse in Glasgow, Scotlands new architecture and design centre.
Thomson's church was hit at the end of the war by a stray bomb, and
burnt to the ground. This reconstruction is based on the four
remaining black and white photographs of the building, measured
drawings of the building created early last century, and a
watercolour of the font and pulpit by a C19 architecture students.
Captions are by architectural historian Gavin Stamp, who was closely
involved as advisor for the reconstruction, as was Sally Rush, an
expert on the artist Daniel Cottier who worked for Thomson to produce
the elaborate internal decoration. Animation sequences generated by
the project were used in Murray Grigor's film "Ninevah
on the Clyde".
Combined catalogue.
